DEADLINE – Al Pacino has been set to star in Billy Knight, an indie drama that will mark the feature film debut of writer-director Alec Griffen Roth. Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton and Diana Silvers (Space Force, Booksmart) will also topline the pic, which begins shooting this week in Los Angeles.
Prominent Productions’ Autumn Bailey-Ford and Cameron Burnett are producing with Sevier Crespo and Amanda Kiely, with Sarah Sarandos, Josh Clayton, Kirk Martin and Our World Films’ Peter Bortel executive producing.
The plot follows grad school students Alex (Heaton) and Emily (Silvers) as they traverse their aspiring careers as filmmakers. Alex is also grappling with the grief of losing his father, a failed screenwriter. The only thing his dad left him was a box of unfinished scripts and a handkerchief with the name “Billy Knight” embroidered on it. Alex embarks on a magical Hollywood adventure to track down the Billy Knight all while navigating the line between fiction and reality.
CAA is repping the film.
“Billy Knight is a love letter to cinema, a fantasy steeped in the history of this great art form,” Roth said. “It’s also the tale of two struggling artists, an introspective struggle of a young man trying to find his voice, and discovering what’s important in life. Having the incomparable Al Pacino and the incredible talents Charlie Heaton and Diana Silvers in the film is a dream come true.”
The Oscar-winning Pacino, who most recently was onscreen in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, is repped by CAA. Heaton is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Sloan Offer. Silvers is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Jackoway Austen.
DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Diana Silvers (Space Force) and Younès Boucif (Standing Up) have signed on to star alongside Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth in the Netflix film Lonely Planet, from writer-director Susannah Grant (Unbelievable), which is currently in production.

The film continues the creative partnership between Netflix and 3dot, which has thus far produced the streamer’s recently-released thriller series, Anatomy of a Scandal, based on the book by Sarah Vaughan. 3dot entered into a multi-year, first-look film deal with Netflix in 2019, with adaptations of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Diane Cardwell’s memoir Rockaway also in the works.

Unfortunately, Space Force has been cancelled at Netflix after two seasons. Much love to the cast and crew, and the fans!
DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has opted not to renew Greg Daniels and Steve Carell’s comedy series Space Force for a third season.
The decision on the series, which starred John Malkovich and Ben Schwartz alongside Carell, comes two and a half months after Season 2 was released February 18. It did not break into the overall Nielsen streaming weekly Top 10 ranking but made a brief appearance on the streaming originals Nielsen charts, debuting at No. 8 and rising to No. 7 the following week. It also had a short presence in Netflix’s Daily Top 10 raking, peaking at around No. 5 after Season 1 had had a lengthy stay at No. 1.
Space Force was born with a lot of promise, reuniting The Office‘s developer/executive producer Daniels and star Carell. The show revolved around a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces, the Space Force. It assembled a top-notch class that included Carell, Malkovich, Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Dianna Silvers, Don Lake and Jimmy O. Yang.
Season 2 picked up with General Naird (Carell) and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges.
Diana is the new face of Clé de Peau Beauté. Diana joins Dakota Fanning and Ella Balinska as the ambassadors for the beauty brand. The actresses will attended exclusive media launch events and their first commercial appearance will be out in January.
EW – The Space Force crew is preparing for launch.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced that Steve Carell was reuniting with The Office boss Greg Daniels for a new Netflix series inspired by President Trump’s much-mocked idea for a sixth branch of the armed forces. Now the series is revealing more details, including an impressive supporting cast.
While Carell will star as Mark R. Naird, “a general tapped by the White House to lead a new branch of the armed forces with the goal of putting American ‘boots on the moon’ by 2024,” John Malkovich (The New Pope), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), Tawny Newsome (Brockmire), and Diana Silvers (Booksmart) will round out the series regulars, with Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) and Alex Sparrow (UnREAL) joining as recurring guest stars. And Paddington and Paddington 2 mastermind Paul King will direct the first two episodes.
Silvers as Erin Naird — “Popular and an A-student in Washington, D.C., Mark’s daughter is an outcast in Wild Horse, Colo., after transferring to a remote military base and turns to delinquency.”
Space Force will debut on Netflix in 2020.
